Sustaining our
Ski Racing Legacy

The opportunity:

The Vail Valley has built an international ski racing legacy over more than 50 years of producing world-class events. Since 1981, the Vail Valley Foundation has been the steward of these events. We have an opportunity to ensure our ski racing legacy not only lives on, but expands to include men’s and women’s FIS World Cup racing under a festival structure unmatched anywhere in the world.

What we will do:

We will ensure ongoing support for our world-class ski racing festival to include men’s and women’s World Cup races, VIP experiences, live entertainment, and more. This investment in our festival will create a stronger economic footing and secure our place in the world of international racing for decades to come.

Hosting the world’s best

Our goal to sustain our ski racing legacy is to bring our athletics and ski racing history to the next level. To do so, the VVF has established a long-term calendar position for a women’s and men’s FIS World Cup festival in early December in Beaver Creek.

This festival, which is first of its kind for our community, is further expanding the VVF’s legacy in world-class athletic events, providing a platform to celebrate both our male and female US athletes, creating new opportunities to highlight our local mountains, and yielding a direct economic impact for Beaver Creek and surrounding Vail Valley area of $6+ million.

Thanks to a remarkable $10 million gift from John and Karen Arnold, the “John & Karen Arnold Ski Racing Legacy Fund” has fully funded this project. Although our fundraising goal has been met, continued contributions help strengthen our ability to host premier ski racing events well into the future. We invite those who wish to support this legacy to reach out.
